Fabian Cancellara already started road cycling at the age of 13. The young talent became one of the most successful racing cyclists of all time. His speciality: individual time trials and difficult one-day races. In individual time trials alone, he became a four-time world champion and two-time Olympic winner; he won Milan-San Remo once and the spring classics Paris-Roubaix and the Tour of Flanders three times each – in 2010, he even won both in the same year! At the Tour de France, he won 7 stages and raced 29 days in the yellow jersey.
He earned his nickname ‘Spartacus’ due to his build, which is rather strong for cyclists. Cancellara is considered a perfectionist.
Even in my professional career, I was always the first person wanting to test new prototypes to develop products further and to get the most out of them
With the 2016 Olympics victory in Rio de Janeiro, he completed his 16-year long professional career and has since been a global brand ambassador for GORE BIKE WEAR®. He studies sportsmarketing at the university of St. Gallen, is engaged in triathlon and just launched his own event series called “Chasing Cancellara.”
